HISTORY & PROMISE

Constructed between 1909 through 1957, the six building Merchant’s Ice and Cold Storage Company Complex covers five acres in San Antonio’s bourgeoning Eastside and was once the second largest refrigerated facility in Texas.

In the works for more than two years, the historic campus is undergoing an extensive redevelopment as a technology and life science innovation hub. Now in Phase II, The VelocityTX Innovation Center will house the incubator program, a startup accelerator for national and international technology businesses looking to establish a presence in South Texas, and space for education and collaboration.

The Merchant’s Ice Complex will be an integrated live, work, play, and create campus, and will serve as the city’s premier hub for life sciences, biotech, emerging technologies, and likeminded entrepreneurs. The redevelopment will feature a multi-building innovation center, an event center, office and lab space, an outdoor plaza and greenspace.
